You'll notice that this forums system lacks some features and may have some bugs. I encourage you to report any bugs you find as well as request features you'd like to see.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Here's a list of features I plan to add in the future:
- Show posts / topics for user page. DONE.
- Build chat system. DONE.
- Build statistics and charts page. DONE.
- Build private messaging system. Encrypt private messages. DONE.
- Build calendar feature. Show posts for the selected day underneath the calendar. DONE.
- "Posts since my last login" page. DONE.
- Build RSS / chart functionality. DONE.
- Search functionality. DONE.
- Create "Who is Online?" Externally accessible API call (JSON?) DONE.
- Add AJAX refresh to "Who is Online" feature (internally; not for external uses.) NAH.
- Mobile / tablet CSS modes. DONE!
- "Forgot Password" feature DONE
- Preview feature on posting / reply / editing screen DONE

Got a bug list started for you. Have you considered using Bugzilla for bug tracking?

EDIT: Jovian, I've used Bugzilla before for projects but I think this system will probably suffice as its own bug reporting system. I should set up Bugzilla somewhere on the server, though.

Ok, a lot of features on this list have been completed now. I just have the statistics and charts and RSS feeds to finish.
There are a lot of minor adjustments that I have in my list but most of the major features are already done. I've put together mobile-friendly style sheets because I know a lot of people like to use forums on their mobile devices, including myself.
If anyone has any more feature requests, please make these requests here so that I can be sure to see them.
I'm rather enthusiastic about the idea of this project being group oriented. Input from users would give me ideas that I otherwise would not have.

Phase 2 of the forums development is complete! What a month it has been!
A few odds and ends remain for phase 3 but I need to take some time to do some additional planning before moving forward with them.
As for right now, aside from planning phase 3, finding and fixing any bugs in the current system is the most important.
