I'll spend a little while this week here and there checking out some features on mobile to see how they look and work.
From what I can tell most of the bugs are smoothed out.

Just to let everyone know, phase 2 features for this system have all been completed. While I have a few admin / moderator features in mind, no new public-facing features have been planned at this point.
I would like to hear suggestions from users. 73's, KD8FUD |

Here is a general dump of a development timeline that I put together from note fragments, journal entries, and file time stamps. I wish that I had kept a more formal journal in regard to building this system but this'll have to do.
Not that I think anyone would be particularly interested in this minutia, but here it is anyway, for the record.
On October 29, 2014, I have a journal entry talking about how I was starting to build a new forums system (not sure if I was starting from scratch at that point or attempting to use the salvaged code libraries from the old system).
Started: Around January 8, 2015 ( have a voice note in Evernote talking about plans for the UAC system) Started testing posting / replies: January 14, 2015 Paused around January 23, 2015 (ordered a Raspberry Pi) Pause around January 27, 2015 (have some files modified then)
Worked sporadically through the year, little by little, mostly on posting / editing posts and topics functionality Mostly during the summer (files modified on June 1, 2015)
Started again: December 12, 2015 Mostly finished (phase 2 completed); January 1, 2016 Finished: January 8, 2016
Timelines of completion according to notes:
Phase 1 (basic UAC, posting / replying, member list, registration, profile editing, autosave): December 20, 2015 Phase 2 (statistics, charts, calendars, chat, chat logs, RSS, search, private messages, backup db/img/avatars): January 1, 2016 Phase 3 (Extended admin tools, minor tweaks and fixes throughout system): January 8, 2016
From the time stamps on the SQL dumps, in addition to the above information, it appears that it took around 40 total days of work for the entire project.
So... yeah. I don't mean to bore anyone to death but I thought it might be a good idea to have some information about how long it took to build this thing. (This post was edited 9 years ago on Saturday, January 9th, 2016 at 3:28 pm) 73's, KD8FUD |
