Sure, I'd go for an electric car if I could swing it. The Tesla roadster is one hell of a car. The whole trick with electric cars is planning. You have to get it on the charger while you're going to be a while, like having something to eat or overnight. The charging time isn't that bad.
You can get it charged up to half capacity in a little over an hour, maybe an hour and 15 minutes. Overnight it will be fully charged.
Also, the range is farther than you might think. You can go almost 250 miles on a full charge. That's more than enough for any reasonable commute. If you commute further than 125 miles to work, you really should relocate.
