Festis is a "hardware-mage", or a person who is skilled in transforming everyday objects into useful machinery. In other words, Festis is like MacGuyver, but without the mullet 
Festis lives in a quiet area of town with his wife, Greta. Festis is constantly tinkering with old machinery and assisting students from the local university in excavations. He is a former Navy captain for the nation of Duo and was a physics instructor for 10 years before retiring to pursue his crazy inventions.
His wife constantly tries to talk sense into him, but Festis is so obsessed with his inventions that he often forgets to eat or sleep.

Anne is a typical student in the sparsely-populated territory of southern Duo. She lives on a farm with her mother, helping her tend to the crops. She likes to spend her free time exploring the vast fields of the area, and occasionally signs up to go on expeditions with other students at the local university.
Her father disappeared suddenly when she was 5 years old. He was labeled a heretic by the local townspeople and it was suspected that he was run out of town. He used to tell her great stories about an ancient civilization that came from the stars and brought humans into the world.
Since the day her father disappeared, Anne has been searching for any evidence that the stories could be true. She hopes that in finding the answers, she can someday find out what happened to her father.
