I've started watching "Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni" this week.
As a lot of people know, it starts out on a cheery note and everything seems light-hearted and fine. Toward the end of the second episode - watch out. Things get DARK quickly.
That's kind of cool, how the tone can change so quickly and then change back just as fast. The characters are all interesting even if the animation seems a little low budget at times and the character designs / art do look kind of rushed in some scenes.
It's dark but fun. The story has sucked me in completely.
I'm off to watch more! Will review later.

I watched this recently. It's a great series if you like psychological thrillers.
There are some moments that are so over-the-top that they leave you wondering what you just saw. The characters are fantastic.
The art style is okay - definitely far better than the art in the original visual novel game - but not ultra high budget.
There's some good creepy music the series, too. The opening theme is pretty awesome.
