Yep, even though it's a mere coincidence. It's one of several variations of the character, though, this particular one being the one with a bar through it. I don't know much about the Arabic language so I'm rather unfamiliar with their writing overall.

And don't feel bad - I never studied the language, either. It's just when you create applications that have to support multiple character sets, therefore UTF-8 (among other encodings) you become familiar with a lot of these after a while.
