How about this?!
Scientists at the Energy Department's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and at the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) have jointly set a new world record for converting non-concentrated (1-sun) sunlight into electricity using a dual-junction III-V/Si solar cell.

Oh my.
I took a speed reading course and read 'War and Peace' in twenty minutes. It involves Russia.

Love it. Can't wait to see solar power become dominant.
There are some serious problems in creating solar cells. While the way they create energy is great for the environment (and just plain makes sense, IMHO), producing them is ridiculously energy-consuming and produces a lot of greenhouse gasses.
Sad to say, folks, but solar power ain't as green as it's touted to be. I'd like to see it get a lot better, let's be straight up on that, but there's problems with it right now.

Having gone over that, I still love me some solar power for backups. I got one of these bad boys not too long ago and it's perfect for outages or trips to the great outdoors: user link on www.amazon.com
Hells to the yeah! I can charge up my tablet on that thing.
