Wolfwood, solar cell manufacturing certainly has its own set of environmental concerns. As they become more efficient and cheaper to produce, their advantages will eventually outweigh any negative environmental impact. That is to assume that manufacturing processes won't be refined to the point where the negative environmental impact will become negligible.

In enough time, this could be a viable solution.

With that taken into consideration, I still find Thorium reactors promising.

How about a backstory on the deal with the chocolate fish? There must be one.
