Thread RSS New Computer?

I'm going to get a new computer.

My old one is getting long in the tooth and it's time to upgrade. Right now I'm using an iMac.

Recommendations on what's good these days?

I'm a long time Mac user myself. I'd get one of those Intel-based PowerPC Macbooks.

Plenty of power plus it's OSX - so BSD under the hood!

Oh, I was considering that. So it sounds like a good choice, then.

I go to the computer store tomorrow to make the final decision! yay

Macs can be nice. Too expensive for my tastes right now.

Been using Windows here. It all really depends on your budget and what you're used to.

Windows does stuff that irks me. Not to mention the chance of getting a virus, which is ridiculously high under Windows unless you're constantly maintaining your system and installing updates.

Windows hard drives have a tendency to get really, really messy and fragmented pretty quickly, too. Linux and Mac don't really have that problem.

Hope you enjoy your new computer!
