Should we institute a rule that if a player becomes inactive or unavailable, their character becomes an NPC / a character any of us can play?
I think we might get bogged down if we open things up for an inactive character. I really don't want to have to wait on someone to progress. It doesn't matter if the glass is half empty or half full. There's clearly enough room for more wine. |

One of the things about running forums is that it can be a challenge to try to please everyone. Sometimes, I delegate certain things but, ultimately, I have to make a call on certain stuff.
So... here's what I think will probably be the best course of action: Let's move ahead. If the majority of players are moving at a reasonable pace and a minority of players become unable to play their character, it's probably okay to proceed with the story.
I'd advise against writing inactive characters out of the story entirely. Let's make sure we don't do that. Even so, if it's been a few days and everyone else is posting regularly, it's okay to write your part in such a way that we don't end up waiting on anyone.
Keep in mind that I may also fall behind at times. When I do, anyone is free to write for Duncan.
Hopefully this will prevent any further problems. (This post was edited 9 years ago on Tuesday, February 9th, 2016 at 12:26 am) 73's, KD8FUD |

We've been writing each others' parts all along, so I don't see that being much of an issue anyway.

Sure, but if a character is inactive across several turns, they've written themselves out of the immediate story anyway. I'm good with the plan. "Dangerous toys are fun, but you could get hurt!" |

Per our discussion in chat, I've closed Chapter 1 with Atlas, Renk, Shell, and Duncan looking for a cybernetics repair shop and possibly a hospital.
I would suggest we wait a little while between chapters so that we can do a little planning. We discussed in chat that Jess would meet the rest of the characters en route to wherever they're going to get repairs, so that will probably happen early in the next chapter.
If Elise is going to do something or if Vega has any plans for some NPC stuff to happen, the opening of Chapter 2 might be the best place for it.
Otherwise, I guess we can start it up where we left off although having some kind of "intermediate" scene at the opening would be nice. 73's, KD8FUD |
